Adam Cockerill knows a good thing when he sees it, and he senses something is brewing in Dallas. In his eyes, the Dallas-Fort Worth metro is the perfect spot for a passionate, entrepreneurial-minded individual. Adam should know. He’s on the verge of opening his sixth Scooter’s Coffee® franchise in Dallas later this fall. And he’s looking for strong strategic partners to help North Texas become Scooter’s Coffee Country.
The latest store will be in McKinney, a northern suburb of Dallas. The Dallas metro area has been kind to Cockerill and Scooter’s Coffee. The fact Scooter’s Coffee is finding success in the area comes as no surprise to the seasoned franchise owner.
“I think the brand is starting to take hold in Dallas. We are getting more and more customer awareness and loyalty,” he says. And he believes Scooter’s Coffee presents the perfect opportunity for a forward-thinking self-starter. “Our business is a unique and fun concept that lends itself to anyone with entrepreneurial spirit.”
According to the most recent census figures, the Dallas-Fort Worth metro is America’s fastest growing metro. The area welcomed more than 140,000 people from July 2015 to July 2016. Dallas’ northern suburbs, where you will find all 5 of Cockerill’s Scooter’s Coffee stores, are experiencing explosive growth.
Cockerill feels Dallas embodies the best of what America offers—a thriving economy along with loving and caring residents – a perfect blend as he prepares to establish and grow the Scooter’s Coffee business model with like-minded entrepreneurs. Cockerill is specifically looking for these like-minded entrepreneurs in Plano, Frisco, and Allen, Texas.
“From a people standpoint, people in Dallas treat each other with respect and kindness. It’s the people and the culture that accentuates the spirit of North Texas.”
Cockerill was first introduced to Scooter’s Coffee in 2007. Cockerill was sold on the idea faster than it takes a Scooter’s Coffee customer to place and receive an order.
“It was the uniqueness of Scooter’s Coffee that first lured me into becoming a franchisee. The concept — to deliver world-class coffee at an amazing pace — was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”
Six years, and 11 additional locations later, Adam was looking to expand to new frontiers outside of Omaha, Nebraska, where Scooter’s Coffee originated. And that’s when he made the decision that the good folks in North Texas needed a shot of some real coffee, delivered fast. He had a hunch it would succeed in Dallas, and the people in Big D didn’t let him down.
“Every time I was in Dallas I got the same feelings of culture and vibe that permeate Omaha, and thought Scooter’s would be a great fit. Scooter’s has thrived in Omaha, and I expected to see the same results in Dallas.”
His intuition was right on the money. Cockerill now owns 17 (and counting) franchises. Part of his Texas growth plan now involves finding men and woman who share in his vision to capitalize on Dallas’ population boom and America’s insatiable demand of coffee.
Adam relies on one concept that has withstood the test of time, KISS — Keep It Simple, Stupid. He says keeping things simple, remaining true and not deviating from Scooter’s Coffee’s core principles keeps his franchises thriving. “My job is to make sure the right people are in place, and make sure they are put in positions to succeed. I love building relationships with my team, and watching them grow.”
Adam is a proud husband and father of two children, a seven-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter. He is also a giver of his time, volunteering with several organizations in the Omaha area. He serves as a board member of The First Tee of Omaha, and a mentor with TeamMates, a mentoring program established by former congressman and legendary University of Nebraska football coach Tom Osborne.
It’s the commitment to his community, both in Omaha and Dallas, that drives Adam — and the relationships he is building drive more and more customers to his Scooter’s Coffee stores. In his eyes, success is built off relationships. And he continues to find success everywhere he sets up shop.
