At Scooter’s Coffee®, we know that the relationship between the franchisee and the franchisor is a symbiotic one; our success depends upon your success. When Don and Linda Eckles opened that first Scooter’s Coffee in Bellevue, Nebraska, back in 1998, they knew the keys to success were simple. It begins with finding a great location, staying committed to providing quality drinks, speedy service, a clean store, and of course, a big smile! By 2001, that formula expanded to include successful and happy franchisees. Like any great relationship, it starts with getting to know one another. That’s where your “due diligence” comes into play.
Due diligence
If you’re considering entrepreneurship, you owe it to yourself to take it in steps, exploring the countless opportunities. In Scooter’s Coffee terms, think of it as a cup of our classic Scooter’s Blend coffee blended and roasted with love and care in small batches, then take it up a notch to our signature Caramelicious, after just one sip of this heavenly journey you won’t want to turn around! Due diligence is designed to protect you, to ensure you’re making the right decision. We won’t rush you or pressure you, but we do expect that once you begin our process, you’ll be excited and ready to move forward.
A closer look at the FDD
The first step in our process is as simple as a phone call or an email. We begin answering your questions right then and there, while we learn a little something about you as well. If we’re uncovering a mutual interest, we will send you our Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) for your review. This is where potential franchisees really should take extra time and care. The FDD is full of important information that will help you decide whether this business relationship is the right one. It includes information like:
You should read this document over very carefully. It’s a good idea to have an attorney to look it over as well. Write down your questions, comments, and concerns, and we’ll provide you with the answers.
Getting to know you
We encourage you to come to the Scooter’s Coffee headquarters in Omaha once a mutual prequalification has been reached. Get a look at how we run things, meet Leadership and the Franchise Support Team, and see for yourself all the amazing components that make up Scooter’s Coffee! Inspect our coffee roasting and distribution facility. If we’re going to be working together, it’s important that you “check under the hood” and “kick the tires” so to speak. It’s all a part of the process of getting to know one another. But before you sign on the dotted line of the Franchise Agreement, there’s still one more step we encourage you to take.
