Scooter’s Coffee Hires Cris Bengis, Beverage-Industry Veteran, as Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales

Scooter’s Coffee®, the Midwest-based coffee franchise that has experienced tremendous nationwide growth over the past year, announced that it has hired Cris Bengis as Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales. Bengis brings an extraordinary track record of opening distribution channels for newly-created retail products while also spending many years leading major foodservice accounts during his 12-year tenure at PepsiCo.

Bengis will be in charge of a crucial multifaceted new initiative for Scooter’s Coffee: developing an exciting line of Scooter’s-branded packaged goods products and then working with leading retail chains on distribution placement throughout the country.

“Sales are taking off for Scooter’s Coffee, and we need to make sure we’ve got a seasoned leader who ensures that the growth will continue on a sustainable basis,” stated Mike Rogers Chief Operations Officer. “Cris is a perfect fit for our new strategic initiative to build sales of Scooter’s CPG products in many retailers beyond our franchises, having demonstrated remarkable effectiveness in helping beverage brands expand their sales and distribution footprints and extend their brands.

“Plus, he’s got a passion for creating something from nothing and has shown success in leveraging that approach to develop new, successful distribution channels.”

Most recently, Bengis served as Vice President of National Sales for Chicago-based Argo Tea, a fast-growing global premium-tea company. Previously, he held progressively responsible sales and marketing roles with PepsiCo., where he drove sales and developed strategic partnerships with multiple restaurant accounts. For many years, Bengis ran the U.S. Pizza Hut business for Pepsi and also spent time managing national restaurant chains such as Arby’s and Quiznos. In these roles, Bengis closely collaborated with his customers’ corporate and franchised entities.

In line with their successful and robust grand opening strategy, Scooter’s Coffee recently opened five locations throughout Kansas and Missouri, opened the first of many locations in Arkansas and is opening additional locations in markets such as Phoenix, Arizona; Rapid City, South Dakota; Dallas, Texas; and Las Vegas, Nevada.

Americans love their coffee. The percentage of people in the U.S. who drink coffee daily is up to 62 percent in 2017. Scooter’s Coffee, with the Brand Promise of Amazing People, Amazing Drinks…Amazingly Fast! ® is helping meet that demand.
